Like I could love Prince any more than I did? Rally 4 Peace concert in Baltimore, streaming it live to raise money for recovery efforts, and having the prosecuting DA on the stage with him the whole night. Dang.

well the bills are paid for now. last several months I've been dipping into savings to cover my butt and not able to put anything back. after years of not saving at all, I was so proud of myself for doing it, and now watching that number get lower and lower is such a bummer. I need to get things under control, but for some reason I just feel paralyzed right now. So weird.

So much has been going on. I feel like I'm hardly keeping up, much less staying on top of it all. I want to take this weekend to pull things together, but I don't even know where to begin. Ironically, I'm the one other people call to help them do that.

so far check-ins with my people in Baltimore are ok. still a handful I haven't heard back from yet. sad truth is many of us doing community work and journalism there 5 years ago have burnt out by now, but the groups and churches I know of still in action are doing what they do best: pulling together resources and taking care of one another. there are such amazing beautiful people in that town. that's what the media won't show you, the true heart and soul of the city.

holy cows, y'all. I really did a number on myself this weekend. two nauseating near panic attacks in two days. lesson learned the hard way: you can't go off on a twitter rant in a small town, especially if it involves beer, guns, and/or white businessmen. yikes. I think everything is quashed now, but damn if I don't feel like a truck ran me over.

Friday afternoon I sent out a press release that I'd been working on all week, trying to get quotes from people for, etc. this was going to be my big introductory "real story" for a broader base of tech and startup media streams... so I finally send it out, and... wait for it... turns out it had a glaring factual error (which may have been the result of typo, idk) and missing words that made for terrible grammar.

after I lay catatonic on my bed for a few minutes, I started the slow and embarrassing crawl of resending with a correction message and humble apology to everyone. good grief. happy ending though, a local business blog ran it (corrected) and a tech blog in Atlanta just put it up on their front page, so... hopefully no permanent damage done. - t-ra - -
