I'm not planning on it, vicster. Nature abhors a vacuum. But that sounds heavenly and perhaps I'll trip over some spare time over the holidays. - barrywynn - - (Edit | Remove)

I'm really not one to look back. Once a thing is done, once I'm gone, once it's over, I move on and rarely look (or go) back. But in the immortal words of Jack Twist: "I wish I knew how to quit you (people)." - barrywynn - - (Edit | Remove)

I have a phishing question. Yesterday Waif's email account got hacked when she opened a google doc from a trusted source. The subject line was "vital information". Google alerted us today that there was an unauthorized login in Indianapolis. We changed her password. Other than 2 step verification, is there anything else we should be doing?

Maybe change passwords on other accounts if she used the same password on elsewhere. - John B. - - (Edit | Remove)

That's exactly what happened. She got it from an adult that she was working with as a coach this past spring. We spent a good part of the afternoon alerting everyone. One more thing. Based on a tip from April Russo, I checked Waif's filter settings. Sure enough, there was one set up to delete all of her incoming email. We deleted it. I hope that's the last of it. - barrywynn - - (Edit | Remove)

Finally getting to B.B. King. And what little tribute I can make to someone who was a big part of my life, especially growing up. Let's start tonight with the obvious. The Thrill Is Gone - https://www.youtube.com/w...

My mother would have a fortune in vinyl if most of her B.B. King collection hadn't gotten ruined in a basement flood. She bought every album she could get her hands on. I think she even had some duplicates because she played the grooves off a couple. - barrywynn - - (Edit | Remove)

My Aunt Lois was always concerned with the uplift of the race. She was no "race woman". But she had seen what Jim Crow had done to the dignity of black people. She was all about building and keeping "respectability." She was not much for blues but she loved B.B. And rightly so. B.B. never did anything to publicly embarrass himself (or the race). And he carried himself in a dignified manner. Consequently, it surprises me that "Sweet Sixteen" was her favorite B.B. cut.

My dad was a music purist. Ellington, Basie, Davis, & Montgomery were his stock and trade. Didn't have much love for pop. Though he recognized artistry, so I'm sure he'd have liked Prince. Likewise, he wasn't much of a blues man but he loved B.B. He thought Philadelphia was "an atrocity" though. http://www.youtube.com/wa...

For all Ma cared, B.B. could have played polka. She'd have bought the album and loved it. I always liked the horns and the bass line. - barrywynn - - (Edit | Remove)
