Even more, I am reminded that the joke is on me to think that (most) people I consider to be friends do not feel anywhere close to the same about me -- and probably do not know I exist when better, more convenient options (people) are more readily and consistently available than I can be the vast majority of the time.

For the past year and a half (if not longer), my daily schedule has mostly precluded me from having "a life" (at least a "normal" one). This is certainly a factor. If you could not already tell, being awake at this hour (just after 3 am local time) is entirely normal for me -- and is currently to me as 3 pm is to most everyone else. - Julian - -

I want friends. Even more (and much more importantly), I want to be a good friend. Whatever I have been has been not good enough, and other people deserve better from me. What hurts the most is that I have been incapable of being there (consistently) enough to keep up appropriate maintenance. Wait... scratch that. What hurts the most is watching others having what I cannot have because they can put in the work that (most of time, due to timing) I simply cannot put in.
