I have to wonder why, at times, people act so insane. It's driving me crazy.

Well, that was a very depressing end to "Show Me a Hero." As the miniseries stated in the beginning, quoting from F. Scott Fitzgerald: "Show me a hero, and I'll write you a tragedy." I reckon I should have seen the ending coming.

Going under the knife tomorrow morning around 8:30 am for some minor foot surgery. The doctor is removing a bone from each of the next to smallest toe on both feet. This will hopefully help with recurring soft corns between my toes that I have been suffering from for more than a year. Say a quick prayer or send a positive thought, if you don't mind. I'll be awake for the procedure as they are only using local anesthesia.

I just left the office at First United Methodist Church for the final time as its pastor. I gathered the last few items of mine remaining there, laid out my keys and labeled them for the new pastor, and did a few last administrative tasks. My time at First Church comes to an end in a little less than an hour. It's the end of an era for me. My prayers for the church and it's new pastor, Laurie Pfahler. May you go with God.

In case you were wondering, I am still alive . . . still moving stuff and getting rid of stuff (rented a dumpster and it's 3/4 full after just today! Should be done with moving crap by June 1st. That's the plan anyway.

Sorry I haven't been on much lately. Just a lot of stuff going on with packing, moving, unpacking, cleaning and a three day church conference that just ended today around 7 pm.

Well it is almost 1:45 am and I have done all the packing I care to do. Since I still will have access to my current house through May at least, anything I leave here I can come back and get later. But I have a few things to do at the new house, so I must be up at 6 am to do them. The movers arrive at 8 am.

Yeah. Of course, I mostly admire him for reasons totally unconnected to his boxing. "No Vietcong ever called me nigger" is probably the best single-sentence protest of everything that was wrong with the Vietnam War (and many before and since) that I've ever heard. - laura x - - (Edit | Remove)

If I am very lucky, the underwriter will receive all the needed material by tomorrow morning, accept it as it is, and i will still be able to close on the house on Thursday afternoon. Positive vibes, good thoughts, prayers and crossed fingers . . . please. Nothing like everything coming down to the very last minute.

Well, whether or not I am up to it physically (since I am feeling off), I will be painting the front porch of my hopefully new home tomorrow to take care of FHA and PHFA concerns. The owners put on a first coat, and I am putting on a second coat since they are no longer in the area and it needs to be done if we are going to close on April 30th.

Still very anxious about the whole house buying thingy. Hoping the appraisal comes in where I need it and that the financing doesn't fall through. No one else (the banker or the realtors) seem worried, but that doesn't keep me from being so.
10 years ago - Comment - Hide - - - (Edit | Remove) - More...
I was exactly the same right as my house stuff was closing - there are a lot of moving pieces, and a lot of hopes attached to them. If your realtor and banker seem pretty solid and unruffled, then there's every good chance that they know things will sort out well :D - Jennifer D. - - (Edit | Remove)
