in such a hurry to get out of here today... babies had their first day in the big kid room in daycare (toddlers) and had to sleep on cots (not cribs) and sit at a table (not high chair)... are they ok? traumatized? are the teachers traumatized? news at 11

lazy question - is this ISNI business (http://www.isni.org/) gonna suck in ORCID IDs or what? I know ORCID really only makes sense for people who publish in the literature and there are a lot of other people we need an authority file for but... does anyone know?

ACS Photonics? WTF? really? um no. if you're gonna publish in that discipline try SPIE (favorite), IEEE (OK), OSA (mostly ok), or any one of a number of reasonable physics journals... that's absurd.

Someone (in my org) who I've helped a bunch recently just completed a survey complaining about us, how slow we are, saying he doesn't know why we asked him to do the survey because he hasn't asked us for anything in a long time and then complaining that we don't have access to Science before 1996... (um JSTOR! which I've told him several times)
