i'm doing a plan for when i'm going to get various parts of my dissertation done... and i wanted to end with "profit" but then i realized that was a pretty sick joke as a phd might actually decrease my value on the market

awesome link resolver page (in response to http://friendfeed.com/lsw...) - we now do throw away by default but generate a short, mostly permanent link if requested.

Hey, can I ask how many of the links in the right sidebar actually work? We've had trouble with this, on occasion. - Christina Pikas - - (Edit | Remove)

One of my favorite quips I've read on FF was someone referring to link resolver pages as "obfuscation layers". You seem to have overcome that--great stuff. - Christina Pikas - - (Edit | Remove)

interesting: in our RefWorks stats - Chrome is the top browser, IE is second, then FF, then Safari. Top domain is the medical institution and the second is Comcast (local cable company), then there's the main campus then there's Verizon (phone company also does internet)

tell me i'm imagining things.... in WoS that bit at the bottom of the search results screen is gone? ability to select 500 records at a time to export (without paging through)... is gone?

Not imagining. now hidden and comes up after selecting save option in top bar. Recent (not very well communicated) release. I have the link to the release notes somewhere thanks to my colleagues. I will dig it up and post it. - Christina Pikas - - (Edit | Remove)

another weirdness is that the recording software that does the screen is apparently different from what does ppt as the audio tuning is different... i did camtasias auto leveling and it makes me sound all breathy. meh. - Christina Pikas - - (Edit | Remove)

i guess i misunderstood what backup my photos to icloud would do. i thought it would back up my photos to icloud. apparently not.i also misunderstood what dropbox would do. apparently it was waiting for some magic symbol from me to back up my pictures to dropbox. no pictures of the babies after february except what i sent people-not full size

i'm just stupid. i thought there was like this cloud where my stuff would sit. but no. it's just another way to sync with a pc or whatever. sigh. i should have looked. - Christina Pikas - - (Edit | Remove)

"You may be aware that, thanks to the content expansion and the recent changes in the ACS guidelines, Reaxys now fully meets the ACS requirements for use in accredited Bachelor Degree programs (see ACS white paper here: www.acs.org/content/dam/acsorg/about/governance/committees/training/guidelines-white-paper.pdf)" - Christina Pikas - - (Edit | Remove)

how embarrassing. fielding a request to reproduce an image on the site of a project i worked on a couple of years ago... turns out that it was ripped off a group project ppt (can't tell which university) who ripped it off of a university page in Venezuela... eek. repeating to myself that it wasn't my job to police the project scientists
