Watching this week's Castle. It seems odd that they'd use speakerphone so much when they're trying to keep all of this a secret.

DirecTV is supposed to come to my house sometime between 8 & noon to fix my satellite connection. I have 2 things I need(ed) to do today: put the kidlet on the bus ~8:05 and take Thing 2 to work between 11:30 & 12:30 (he has to be there at noon). Obviously, DirecTV didn't show up right at 8, so putting the kidlet on the bus didn't interfere. Hopefully they'll get here around 10, so they can finish up before I have to leave to take Thing 2 to work.

The other available appointment window was from noon-4, at which point I'd have the same issue: Won't be back from taking Thing 2 to work until about 12:30, have to get the kidlet off the bus at 3:45. - Friendfed Mr. Noodle - - (Edit | Remove)

DirecTV guy fixed it pretty quickly. The issue ended up being that the cable running from our dish around the house had gotten messed up, so he had to replace the connections and seal it back up again. - Friendfed Mr. Noodle - - (Edit | Remove)

Wait. Seriously? One of the arguments the anti-gay marriage side is making to the SCOTUS is that gay marriage will cause more children to be born out of wedlock? I can't even.

Weird UX issue I just discovered here on Frenf. When you create a new post and "Send" it, the "New post" textarea ends up below the new post. It makes it look as though the textarea is meant for adding a comment to your new post, but, instead, it creates an entirely new post. ETA - screenshot of issue: http://ten-321.com/files/...

This is a really shitty situation, but I'm not sure they're really doing anything illegal. If a company chooses to close its doors, leaving all of its employees without a job, isn't that the company's prerogative? | Wal-Mart store closure follows labor activism (http://www.msn.com/en-us/... )

It will be interesting to see how this shakes out in the long run, though. It really blows me away that WalMart allegedly thinks losing revenue from at least 5 stores for at least 6 months is less detrimental to their business model than dealing with their employees. - Friendfed Mr. Noodle - - (Edit | Remove)

I assume it would depend on the labor laws, but closing doors simply to avoid labor organizing does not seem particularly legal. That said, claiming "plumbing problems," might give them enough cover to avoid immediate action. - Jennifer D. - - (Edit | Remove)

Been playing with Git as my version control system almost exclusively for about the past month or so. The differences between it and SVN (which I've been using for many years) take a little getting used to, but, overall, I can definitely see the appeal.

Next step is to begin really testing the ability to version live code (pushing straight from a repo to a production server) and the possibility of integrating external repos (version plugins and themes in their own repos, but pull them into a larger repo that I can use to manage the overall site. - Friendfed Mr. Noodle - - (Edit | Remove)

I still have two Friendfeed tabs open in Chrome on my work laptop. I don't have the heart to close them or close Chrome; I'm sure I'll do so accidentally soon, though. I instinctively keep checking them after I tweet, looking for my tweet to show up there, but then get sad all over again when I remember it's dead.

Looks like it may be sooner than I'd hoped. Updates have to be installed on my Mac, which is going to force me to shut Chrome down. :( - Friendfed Mr. Noodle - - (Edit | Remove)

Can someone please explain to me how coming to an agreement with Iran that prohibits them from developing nuclear weapons is more likely to result in them getting nuclear weapons than if we stand by & do nothing but yell at them about how bad they are? I'm really not understanding the other side of this issue, no matter how hard I try.

I think that's one of those explanations that either (a) requires a Congresssplainer (like a mansplainer but a male member of Congress, preferably Repub.), (b) is of the same order as explaining why Vox Day is a misunderstood nice guy, or (b) requires the tacit assumption that "bombing the hell out of Iran, possibly bringing on an apocalyptic nuclear war" is actually the ultimate goal. But I may be missing something. - waltcrawford - - (Edit | Remove)

Far-reaching Security Vulnerability Revealed in Many #WordPress Plugins | #WPHighEd http://t.co/loprcnRcsG

Thankfully, I have Agent Ransack to run on my backups, to quickly locate any themes or plugins that may possibly be affected. I found 3 plugins & 1 theme that may be affected, on sites currently under my care, and 14 plugins on a former client's site. This is not how I wanted to spend my day, today. :( - April Russo - - (Edit | Remove)
I know exactly how you feel, April. Most of the time, I never have to worry about most of my clients' sites, but in the past few weeks, I've been doing basically nothing but updating client sites. With normal plugin updates, I don't generally worry about it, but with these being highly-visible security vulnerabilities, I feel an ethical responsibility to make sure my clients are all up-to-date. Altogether, that's probably about 50 separate sites I have to login to, run backups on, and then perform updates on (not to mention the fact that my primary responsibility is to my full-time employer, where I have to test these updates in multiple places before running each one individually). - Friendfed Mr. Noodle - - (Edit | Remove)

Interesting translation of frenf.it error message. Not sure if this is really what they meant, but I found it amusing: "If by chance is broken because of authentication, then send him to hell and try again :)"

Is the Twitter import working for anyone else? I see that Tumblr seems to be working fine (for some, at least), but I don't think I've seen anything pulled in from Twitter, and I know that my feed isn't getting pulled in (I've refreshed it a few times). My Italian isn't very good, but I've tried to look through tickets at http://sourceforge.net/p/... & haven't seen anything recent about this.

So, I've basically watched the first season of America Unearthed on Netflix. I find the subject matters he investigates to be fascinating, but, for the most part, I think Scott Wolter is a crackpot. Anyone else watch it? What are your thoughts?

Getting ready to finish watching Maleficent with the kidlet and her friend. Had an interesting dinner, with Thing 1 & 2 here (they were fighting with each other, which made it a little awkward for the kidlet's friend), but, all-in-all, it was a nice night.

Where are Moto and Jim and Friar Will and SAM and all of the others? I want them to be here, now, so it can be just like Friendfeed. :) It will take me forever to build my follower list back up again, but I'm excited about the possibilities.

Noticing that hovercards seem to work when viewing a feed (hover over the name of someone that posted or commented, and you can then see their profile summary & follow/unfollow them), but they don't seem to be active when viewing someone's follower/following list.
