bezdomnyj: Perhaps you misunderstood what I meant by renaming them. You would not be really renaming them. You are only using a frenfbook to create an alias for it. This is not something you can not already do. The image above is a screenshot of how I have already done it for mine. But you might forget the real name, so you should be able to add a description of what is in your frenfbooks (which you can not do at this time). Being able to add the link to the actual room will help you remember which room it's really for, as well as a quick & easy way to get there from your frenfbook alias, so you can post to it. Your example is something I can already do now by subscribing you to some nasty rooms and adding them to your current frenfbooks and then hiding the room from your room list. Your friend can already subscribe you to a Justin Beiber room and hide it in your "Science" frenfbook, full of people that share lots of science posts. They could also do something like that on Friendfeed or Twitter, too. This is not a unique or new problem. - April Russo - -

LB: I just did what I thought had to be done. I had been in their IRC channel back when they rescued content from Geocities, so I knew just how good they are at grabbing stuff. But I did see they had some problems with discovery, back then, so I thought there might be a way to make that easier for them with this project. And I thought there might be other ways to help, like with info and community relations, since they were on the outside looking in, with no means of being able to communicate with us from the inside (no FF account). I also thought if they used the API to grab content, it might be easier and/or faster, and I wasn't sure they knew there was an API and existing scripts that could already use it to export accounts. They only used the API to grab the VIP accounts, though, because they didn't have time to do it for everyone. I am just glad enough people pitched in running Warriors to help with the grabbing. That was the really big issue for them. Until I announced it on FF and everywhere else, they didn't have enough Warriors/IP addresses to grab everything. All the ones they had kept getting banned and they had to wait till they were unbanned, and it was slowing them down. At that point, they didn't think they were going to make it. I am really grateful to all the volunteers that ran a Warrior for this project. Without their help, Archive Team would never have been able to save as much as they did, before the shutdown. - April Russo - [ 1 ] -

Lacuna Launcher can be used to launch multiple applications, open multiple files, or open multiple URLs with a single click. You can make it wait a specified amount of time before it begins launching, and even pause between launches. Handy for use as a super shortcut, a startup manager, and even can work as a portable launcher (works with relative paths). - April Russo - -

Awhile back, a developer friend of mine wrote a 2D Virtual Reality (2DVR) chat server, intended for educational use. Kind of like a school themed Habbo Hotel, of sorts, with a blackboard in the classroom, that a teacher can actually write stuff on. While alpha testing it with him and some other friends, these scenes took place inside the classroom, the only room in the schoolhouse, which was the only building in the application. In the first scene, everyone is making fun of the developer, Martin. And in the 2nd scene, someone who is normally very polite, quite unexpectedly decides to get fresh with me while everyone else is just coming back from looking around outside...with the full intention of them seeing it (just to be funny), but it really caught me off guard. I was in the process of taking screenshots for the developer's (Martin) website, when all of this transpired, which is why I have these animated gifs of it all. The 3rd one, showing one of us getting stuck in a bush (a bug), but I only had some stills from it and not enough to build a decent animation, so the quality is a bit off. :( - April Russo - -

My daughter made a post on Facebook featuring an Asian wearing a shirt with the words "coffee cup" printed on it, in English, and remarked that stuff like that reminds her of the shirts that English speaking people wear, with Asian characters on them, that they have no clue what they actually say. And she wondered if the girl in the photo had any clue how dumb she looked wearing the words "coffee cup" on her shirt, and if she even had any idea that's what it said. And then we started searching for more examples of Asians with ridiculous things in English printed on their shirts. That's how I found this one. - April Russo - -

I think my husband needs a crayon surgically removed from his brain. He makes Forest Gump seem like a genius. No matter how many times I tell him something important, something simple, like "You can not cash a check without a valid photo ID, and valid means not expired", he insists on taking an expired ID with him and deliberately leaving the valid one at home. Then he gets pissed at me if I get irritated about having to tell him to take the valid one, about 5 more times.
