That's 3 "thank you, I got an A on that assignment"s so far today! Should I put a cap on my desk for collections? :)

The plan I drew up to weed our entire collection for outdated materials IS WORKING. I feel like some sort of deity.

Might anyone have an example they could share of a rubric for grading annotated bibliographies or citation exercises? We're working on creating some for the year-long thesis project our Honors students do, and are attempting to crowdsource a bit of inspiration.

Made through Annual with the worst cold I've ever had. Still have a sore throat and partial hearing loss in my right ear, but otherwise feeling like a person again. Managed to be productive, even, maybe...

Tally so far: our newly-hired student aide just suddenly withdrew from our school without word to anyone and we have to replace her; coworker A and coworker B basically came to blows yesterday, each saying that the other should be fired (we agree with A that B shouldn't be working here, but B has been here over 10 years); we got a formal complaint from a student about our night staffer's attitude...on top of which our circulation system has crashed 4 times, we've run out of laptops, and relatives of two separate colleagues of ours have both died within the past 24 hours. - Lily - - (Edit | Remove)

So thrilled and gratified to learn firsthand that the assistive technology program I founded seven years ago at my alma mater is still running strong, with dedicated student workers who have significantly increased its provided resources and just received an alumni grant!

Had to run some serious damage control for our Honors Program today. Its Dean has dropped the ball--apparently for the 3rd year in a row--on coordinating the 3 major groups of people involved in their year-long thesis project (library, writing center, several professors). There is no level of acceptable when one person's total lack of forethought and follow-through directly causes intense confusion and panic for these really hardworking students.
