C'è questo servizio che si chiama Cameo e che sta facendo un sacco di soldi: in pratica potete chiedere a una celebrità di girare un video personalizzato per voi. Non si parla di super celebrità ma di quelle che vengono definite "D-list celebrities" (un esempio: Ivan Lendl che per 138 euro vi fa gli auguri oppure il dott. De Luca di Grey's con cui potete chattare per 9 euro). A quanto pare la gente apprezza parecchio questa cosa.

Grazie. A parte un paio di strane contraddizioni ("per un periodo di tempo sufficiente" VS potrebbe tracciare "due auto affiancate al semaforo" oppure, parafrasando, "le API potrebbero non essere abbastanza diffuse" VS "la scala potenzialmente globale delle API") mi sembra condivisibile ma mi sembra anche che la posizione non sia un secco no ma un "cerchiamo di farla bene e teniamo presente che non è una panacea". - Andrea Tassi - [ 1 ] -

La prova che quando si scrive bene il soggetto diventa meno rilevante: Lauren Collins sul New Yorker racconta la storia di Jeanne Calment che quando è morta nel 1997 aveva 122 anni. O forse no. Tra l'altro la quantità di persone e di risorse impiegate a capire se davvero ha campato 122 anni o se invece è un imbroglio conferma il fatto che la gente va in fissa sulle cose più disparate.

Il racconto di Nicolas Pelham, corrispondente da Teheran per l'Economist, che è stato "trattenuto" in Iran. Il giorno della partenza stava pagando il conto dell'albergo quando sono arrivati dei tizi e gli hanno detto che avrebbero dovuto fargli qualche domandina. In realtà la questione si è protratta decisamente a lungo. Se, come me, avete l'ansia a qualunque controllo passaporti, questo longform potrebbe causarvi le convulsioni. A parte questo è scritto molto bene.

Bell'articolo del New Yorker su Sam Correro, il tizio che ha "ideato" e mappato il Trans-America Trail, un percorso che unisce le due coste statunitensi passando esclusivamente (o quasi) per strade non asfaltate. Il tizio era partito esplorando gli sterrati nei dintorni di casa ed è finito per mappare tutto il percorso. E' anche saltato fuori che la cosa interessava parecchia gente che ha cominciato a chiedergli di comprare le mappe.
