RT @neiltyson: Just an FYI: A 250 lb football player, running 15 mph, has more kinetic energy than a bullet fired from an AK-47 rifle.
oh I don't know, it's a nice sentiment and I suppose a lot of people who you encounter on a daily basis (who don't use the phrase) are liars and schemers. I used to get annoyed by the phrase because it appeared to me that some people were a bit overly pious about the act. As if they were committing some singular act of Christian charity by replacing "nice" with "blessed." But, *shrug* I'm trying to be less annoyed by stuff. 1. because I know that I can be annoying (*eyes Pete*) and 2.because perpetual annoyance takes the joy out of life.

well I hope you make it out. And to your original post, I wouldn't call you cynical at all based on your summation. pretty clear eyed, frankly.

When I saw this headline last night, my first thought was, "How much did they give him?" I just realized I read 'spots' wrong.

Two more items sold today! Not much money, but more stuff is gone! I don't know how I'm going to whittle down my books though. I got them down to one bookcase last move, but I may have to try and get them down to one box (that I can lift) for this move. :/
Could you mail some and pick them up when you get there?

I'm more worried about limited space when I get to Seattle than trying to find room moving them. I think I'm going to have to get it down to a couple of shelves. Moves are good for purging though! It'll make me figure out what I really need to keep and what I can do without. Thanks for the idea though. :)

I came home to a dead rat centered perfectly outside my front door. I can't decide if someone loves me or if a local feral has OCD.
... will not require on-call. I will not be woken up, have to get out of the shower, or stop doing something to handle a work problem.

WTF?! The friend I've animal-sat for before just texted that she's at the emergency vet with one of her dogs because her crazy neighbor SHOT HIM! Send good thoughts to Max and his mom Karen. I feel so sick.

Payroll / billing system is still down, which means I can't work because I essentially block off Mondays for financials. So .... entertain me, FF! TELL ME ALL TEH GOOD THINGS GOING ON IN YOUR WORLD!
My friend, Natalie, started her own dog rescue and sanctuary. She has been rescuing and rehabilitating dogs for more than half of her life. She is using her 28th birthday to gather funds to apply for her non-profit status. She specializes in special needs and senior dogs! She is currently caring for approximately 30 dogs, including: 6 deaf and vision impaired Great Danes, 4 deaf Dalmatians (one also in kidney failure), a blind Dalmatian, a dog recovering from chemical burns, and several others. If any of you are able to donate (no amount is too small - it will all go to her applications for non-profit status and if there is overage it will go to caring for these dogs), please do so! If you aren't able to donate, please share!!!

Natalie saved an emaciated Dalmatian mom and her NINE one-day old puppies yesterday. They were an owner surrender (living tied to a four-foot rope) and would have been put to sleep on arrival. If any of you can spare even $5, it will be appreciated!
