Major League Soccer announced on Wednesday that Minnesota has been awarded an expansion team that will begin play in 2018. The new club will be owned by a Minnesota ownership group led by Dr. Bill McGuire, and the team will play in a new soccer-specific stadium in downtown Minneapolis. “We are proud to welcome Minnesota to Major League Soccer,” MLS Commissioner Don Garber said in a league statement. “The ownership group’s commitment to soccer and the community, the area’s growing millennial population and the region’s rich tradition of supporting soccer at all levels in Minnesota were key indicators that this was the right market. The passionate soccer fans in Minnesota will soon have a world-class, downtown soccer stadium that will serve as the home for the new MLS team and become a destination for marquee international sports events.” - Jennifer D. - - (Edit | Remove)

The Executive Committee today confirmed that the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be staged in November/December with the Final to be on 18 December 2022, Qatar's National Day. In principle, it was agreed that the tournament should be played over a reduced timeframe, for instance 28 days. The working group for the international match calendar will meet in due course to finalise the international match calendar for the 2019-2022 cycle. "We welcome the decision of FIFA's Executive Committee in relation to the timing of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar," said a statement on behalf of the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy. "We are satisfied the process has reached its conclusion. "Regardless of the change in dates, we will continue to develop the cooling technology promised during the bid, ensuring our commitment to deliver a true legacy as a result of the first World Cup in the Middle East remains." - Jennifer D. - - (Edit | Remove)

France has been awarded the hosting rights for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2019™ and the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2018 ahead of Korea Republic, who was also in the running. The announcement was made today at the Home of FIFA in Zurich during a ceremony led by FIFA President Blatter and Lydia Nsekera, member of the FIFA Executive Committee. The two bid teams were represented by Noël Le Graët, President of the French Football Association, and Chung Mong-gyu, President of the Korea Football Association. The announcement followed a unanimous decision taken by the FIFA Executive Committee today. Initially, five countries declared their interest in hosting the events – England, France, Korea Republic, New Zealand and South Africa – before the field narrowed down to two by October 2014, when France and Korea Republic submitted their official bid documents to FIFA. - Jennifer D. - - (Edit | Remove)

If you unfollow someone (like I just did on accident) is there any reason why you'd be prevented from following them again? I tried to hit "follow" again, but it seems like it does not work.
