"Ukrainian novelist and poet Rafeyenko (b. Donetsk,1969) lived and worked as a professor of Russian philology in Donetsk and wrote predominately in Russian until 2014. The author of eight books of prose and three poetry collections, he has won several prestigious literary prizes awarded to Russian-speaking writers. After the outbreak of the Russian–Ukrainian war, he was forced to move to Kyiv and start his literary career virtually anew."
