While I am joyful on the whole, I am sorry that Justice Kennedy found it necessary to say in his decision that the children of unmarried parents are "relegated to a more difficult and uncertain family life." And so while we celebrate the right to marry, I'd also like to take a moment to celebrate the less-heralded but equally important right to divorce (or to raise children on your own). Because difficult as divorce may be, it beats the hell out of a horrible marriage.
