This is the first time we've used a recruiter to try and fill a position at our company. The recruiter set up 5 interviews over the course of two days. So far ... 4 out of 5 have been no shows.

I was approached at the gas station by a woman asking if I was a registered voter in Houston. I said, "yes." Anyone been to Vancouver Island? Looking to make a trip this summer and trying to figure out what places/things are an absolute must. I've been to Victoria before, so I want to go further north like Tofino. I'm interested in great places to take photographs (nature, landscape, wildlife .. especially bears), kayak, and explore the island.

The HOA won't do anything about the foreclosed houses, boarded up windows, or unkempt yards in the neighborhood, but they send me a notice because my grass is over 1.5 inches tall. First they were pissed that the top of the hill wouldn't grow grass and now they're pissed that the grass is "too tall". #FuckHOAs #NoE

So in order to protect threatened species of rhinoceros from poachers, conservationists in South Africa use a technique that has proven effective in recent years: string the rhino up by its ankles, and transport the animal to a new location. During a recent transport in April, photographer Emma Gatland followed a team as they captured and relocated a white rhino in Kwa Zulu Natal. (One member of the group also captured video footage of the remarkable operation.) Both subspecies of the white rhino are considered near threatened, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature. "There aren’t many people who get to witness a rhino lift," Gatland told National Geographic. "It’s a new procedure, which is gentle on the rhino as it shortens the time the animal is kept drugged. We know that smoking boosts the risk of cancer and heart disease, says Dr. Seena Fazel, a psychiatrist at Oxford University who led the study. But aside from the obvious fact that people with mental illnesses are more likely to commit suicide, it's not clear how mental disorders could be causing early deaths. The researchers looked at data on 1.7 million patients, drawing from 20 recent scientific reviews and studies from mostly wealthy countries. Comparing the effects of mental illness and smoking helps put the stats in context, Fazel tells Shots.
