I was kind of blunt with a church member the other day. He was complaining for the umpteenth time about his lot in life, about how his girlfriend was being a jerk and that she had a demon spawn for a child. He wants to walk away, but he got the girlfriend pregnant and they now have a baby girl together.

House hunting is on a two week hiatus while I wait to find out if I qualify for a first-time homebuyers grant that could pay as much as 8% of house selling price towards closing costs. Keep your fingers crossed please.

One of my cousins was saying something similar about where they were looking. I'm guessing some places are going to take a while to get back to a normal market - once people can actually afford to buy them. - friarw - -

There are lots places in London where you have hoards of houses on the same street closed and boarded up, presumable because of repossession(?), it's a very depressing sight! - friarw - -

I had no idea that closing costs for purchasing a home would be so high. This may put a kabosh (sp?) on my plans to buy a home instead of renting. :^(

We're experiencing pre-purchase sticker shock as well. Whenever I heard people mention closing costs before I always thought it was maybe a couple thousand bucks. If only. - friarw - -

The area is pretty much the same as where I am. A little more rural, but I will be living in the same town I am in now, Stephen. And yes, NOODLE, I am currently in a parsonage and need to find a house since the next church has a housing allowance. - friarw - -

The snow is very heavy and about 4 inches or so deep at my house (or in man measurement about 8 inches). Shoveled drive, the sidewalks to my front and back doors,and am leaving the rest (the long sidewalk in front of the street) to the girls.

The intake went well. Now the District Superintendent and I meet with the Staff Parish Relations Committee tomorrow after church to inform them. An announcement will be made at both churches on Sunday the 25th.

I will be introduced to the new church's Staff-Parish Relations Committee on Saturday at 4 pm. Hoping this will go well. If it does, I will meet with my church's SPRC on Sunday after church to fill them in and start the process of their getting a new pastor. I was hoping this would happen fast, but this is a little too fast.

Well, I know where the Bishop wants to send me. I have some mixed feelings, but there are some positives. I guess we'll see how it plays out in the next week or so when I am introduced as the new pastor in the next week or so.

Had a fun evening out with some friends. Drank a few beers. Got a nice buzz. I learned today about three churches I would love to be appointed to. I am hoping I will be asked to serve one of them beginning in June. I would be so very happy.

Okay, I am off later tonight to Ocean City, MD for the annual Bishop's Midwinter Retreat for clergy. I am going mainly because after this retreat the Bishop and District Superintendents begin meeting to decide which clergy are moving to which churches. Since I am moving this June, I want to get my face in front of them before decisions
