Good Lord, you should have seen and smelled the house my work team was tasked with cleaning today: mold everywhere and urine-filled jars . . . I just about threw up. We stayed two hours and then were moved to another project.

Well, somebody hacked into my Capital One Credit Card and billed over $130 to some company called Host Monster which supposedly is for the church's website (fumcop.com). The problem is this site is hosted by somebody else and is paid monthly by the church treasurer. GAH. I need to be asleep instead of dealing with this.

I made a great black bean salad tonight - black beans, garbanzo beans, corn, red and yellow and orange peppers, jalapeno and banana peppers, cilantro, and a bit of balsamic vinaigrette. 2 parts black beans, 1 part garbanzo beans and 1 part corn . . . peppers to your own taste.

No rest for me tonight. It is now 4:10 am and I have just finished my sermon and the accompanying powerpoint slides. I will probably just stay awake now since I am afraid that if I fall asleep now there is no alarm around that will be able to wake me up.

Maybe I'll just get a shower, go eat breakfast at a diner, and head to church. That way if I fall asleep, someone can wake me up before the service starts. :^) - friarw - - (Edit | Remove)

Well, official charges have been filed against the 36 United Methodist clergy who participated in a same sex blessing ceremony last November in Philadelphia. I can hardly wait for the trial/trials to begin. It is fun living in the 17th century.

I doubt that they will, John. In the last ten years my conference has defrocked an openly lesbian pastor, as well as Frank Schaffer last year for performing a ceremony for his son. We have a very large conservative contingent in my conference. - friarw - - (Edit | Remove)

"In particular, I was struck by the writer’s claim that: “The justices did not launch an attack on women. Women can still buy birth control, Plan B or whatever abortifacient they want with a doctor’s prescription. There’s just no reason a Christian company should be forced to pay for it.”" - friarw - - (Edit | Remove)

Last week at the Wild Goose Festival (a gathering of left-leaning Christians that I attended filled with great speakers and music), members of the Westboro Baptist Church (of the "God hates fags" fame) came to protest. We were all encouraged to show them love rather than return their hate.

My church (Episcopalian) set up the fence from a local production of The Laramie Project in it's yard for a month. That's apparently what drew their wrath, in case you need ideas. - friarw - - (Edit | Remove)

I guess in my old age I am becoming rather prudish. While parts of 22 Jump Street were very funny, I grow tired of the constant vulgarity in the movies and IRL.

Life is good. Going to be heading home late tonight or early tomorrow morning. The Wild Goose Festival was great! Met lots of new friends, had a great time driving the golf cart/site shuttle around, and listened to some great music and speakers. But, I will be glad to get home and back to the routine for a while. Also regular internet access.
